(31) "New Toys" 4/17/10
A quick showing from my new toys. To be honest, I never really ventured into the world of macro photography until I joined this community and saw such beautiful macro captures. So I gave it a try - now I'm hooked :) All of my previous closeup dailies were using a 70-300mm tele-macro which I used for many things, but never closeups; it worked to get me started. After awhile though, shooting at 300mm from 3 feet away wasn't doing it for me anymore (not to mention making me contort into all kinds of positions to get the perspective I wanted), so I figured I'd take the next step :)
The photo on the left is taken with the first of my new lenses, a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM. After taking some landscape shots I'm very happy with the L series - so much crisper than what I was using.
The right photo is of the top left edge of the right petal using my second new toy, the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM. Needless to say, I'm already in love with it.
I want to thank everyone. 31 days in the community and I feel like I've gained a lifetime of photography insight. Everyone's exceptional work and encouraging comments have impacted me a lot, technically and inspirationally. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
