Read More(100) "Pitchers" 6/25/10 I have always been fascinated by carnivorous plants, and NJ is home to a few varieties. Was very happy to find these Purple Pitcher Plants. The purple veins can darken a lot over the season making a nice contrast with the green; sometimes entire pitchers are maroon to purple. Looked inside these pitchers - just a couple tiny flying insects trapped waiting to be digested. I hoped to find some of the wonderful maroon blossoms, but I was about a week late by the time I found the plant and the flowers were mostly green already. Some captures of the blossoms from this plant can be found here in my Flora gallery. Thanks to everyone for the generous comments on yesterdays Fire-Pink! After a very long work week, finally made it to another Friday; hopefully heading to the beach house this weekend for some much needed relaxation and shore captures :) Have a great day everyone!
